TT-Hue customs Department was founded on the basic of separation from Binh Tri Thien Customs Department into TT-Hue customs Department and Quang Tri customs Department on Decision No 03/QD/TCHQ-TCCB dated 8th January 1990 by the General Director of the General Department of Vietnam Customs. To facilitate export-import activities, attract domestic and foreign investment, develop tourism and international relations, ensure effective management, and quality improvement, TT-Hue Customs always follows its Performance Guidelines: " Convenience - Devotion - Accurateness". TT-Hue Customs is responsible for inspecting and supervising goods and transport means, preventing and combating smuggling and illegal goods transportation through borders, organizing the implementation of tax legislation with regard to export and import goods, proposing policies and measures for customs-related state management over export, import, exit, entry and transit activities as well as tax policies for export-import goods in our geographical areas of customs operation. In the past years, under the leadership of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Party and the local authorities, the staff of TT-Hue Customs have overcome difficulties and hardship and tried our best to develop the unit and make contribution into developing economy, society and also protecting national security and politics in the area. At the beginning, there were only 29 officers working at 02 sub-departments but now there are up to 77 officers, with approximate 80% of college-standard and Msc working at 07 units, including 04 customs sub-departments, 01 customs control squad and 02 consultative bureaux which are responsible for managing 02 seaports, 02 land-road border gates, 01 international airport, 01 depot of customs procedure completion outside border gates and economic and industrial zones in TT-Hue province. In order to acknowledge the continuous contributions of TT-Hue Customs staff to the cause of socialist establishment and country protection, on January, 24th 2008, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam issued Decision No 107/QD-CTN on awarding the third-class Labour Decoration to TT-Hue Customs Department. In the context of integrating into the wide global economy, TT-Hue Customs has been step by step innovating the traditional manual management method into the modern management method by applying techniques of risk management based on information technology system. So far, TT-Hue Customs has initially achieved high effectiveness in remote customs declaration on the internet and in automatic dossier classification which has reduced time for clearing export and import goods. TT-Hue Customs has paid much attention to the reforming plans and customs modernization, and has been interested in training and re-training the staff in order to build the staff into a competent force with a high professional level meeting requirements of mordern customs.
